NLA Budget Session begins today

KOHIMA, FEBRUARY 25: A 5-day budget session of Nagaland Assembly, which begins tomorrow, will have the customary address by the Governor, who will highlight the achievements and programme of the Government.
On the second day, Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, who is also the Finance Minister, will present the budget for the fiscal year 2024-25. The Assembly will also elect the Deputy Speaker, discussion on public importance, Assembly resolution, Question Hour, lay of Assembly Committee Reports and Annual Administrative Reports, presentation of CAG, introduction of Government bills, voting on supplementary demand for grants, among others.
The Budget Session is likely to discuss the Free Movement Regime (FMR), which was recently scrapped by the Union Government and its decision to fence the borders.
The State Government has already opposed the decision of the Centre but mooted for framing mechanism along the borders.
The BJP, which is part of the PDA coalition Government, has neither supported the Centre’s decision nor stated the State Government’s position.
The PDA coalition is an opposition-less Government.
