DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 20: The Niuland District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) on Monday unanimously agreed to submit a proposal to the State Government for inclusion of the District under Nagaland Special Development Zone (NSDZ).
According to a DIPR bulletin, the Deputy Commissioner of Niuland, Sara Jamir, informed the members that although a similar proposal was submitted in 2014, the district has not been included under NSDZ.
“She highlighted Niuland’s strategic geographical position, touching the Foothill Road, the proposed Showuba to Pangsha 2-lane road, and several other key routes”, it stated.
To garner support for this proposal, a meeting was held with stakeholders including GBs, VCs, and landowners. The DC stated that the people of Niuland have agreed in principle to the proposal.
Other issues discussed in the meeting include the approval of society registration for Zoe Theatre and Art Association, Nihoto village, upgrading of GMS Zutoi to GHS under Aghunaqa circle, and the recognition of Anato village. The Board recommended these proposals to higher authorities for necessary action.
ADC Niuland, Athsangla Yimkhum, highlighted the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, emphasising its role as a national awareness campaign to disseminate information on various schemes and enrol potential beneficiaries. For Niuland district, the yatra is scheduled to commence on December 20 and conclude on January 25, 2023.
A PowerPoint presentation by H&FW Department showcased the health profile under the Niuland district during the meeting.
