NIIT Dimapur observes 20th Foundation Day


Dimapur, March 23: NIIT Dimapur Centre on Saturday observed its 20th Foundation Day here at its premise, Jain Temple Road, Dimapur. The celebration was dotted with a number of musical performances and former and present students of the institute sharing their stories with the gathering.
KK Paul, President, Dimapur Bengali Samaj who was one of the guests during the programme on the occasion said that Ajay Sethi, MD, NIIT Dimapur has been the leader of the IT revolution in the state and with the emergence of NIIT in Dimapur, the common students had gotten an opportunity to explore careers in IT and computer prior to which only few could go out of the state to study these.
He said that technology today has brought the world together and people no longer can remain confined within their own community or place but must open up globally to make progress.
He said that Dimapur is a strategic place for the state of Nagaland and must be accessible to all without restrictions which is vital for solving unemployment issues, industrial progress and others and added that except Dimapur, which is a cosmopolitan place, restrictions in other districts of the state makes sense as this is important to preserve the Naga identity and cultures which is internationally recognized and respected.
He said that despite not being a Naga, he takes absolute delight being a part of Nagaland.
Alumnus of NIIT Hopeto Khetovi who is now associated with SymBios Broadband Service as a software engineer in his speech asked the students to learn as much as they can and take full advantage of the opportunities they have access too, reminding them that they are among the only 43% of the Indians who are privileged to have internet connection and are second to none despite Dimapur being a small city.
Previously, Ajay Sethi had mentioned that till today, NIIT Dimapur has trained more than 30,000 students, placed more than 3,000 people and is constantly trying to maintain 50% of the staffs as Nagas.
