Night curfew in Kohima from May 5

Dimapur, May 4: The Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie has announced night curfew in the district on all days starting May 5, from 7 pm to 6 am.
In an order issued on Tuesday, the DC informed that the decision was taken at the Kohima District Task Force meeting held on the same day. The order will remain in force until further notice.

Exemptions have been made for medical, emergency and essential services, including pharmacies, movement of goods vehicles through goods carriers/trucks.
“Any person violating the order will be penalised as per the provision of the Section 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act 2005 beside legal action under Section 188 of the IPC,” it cautioned.
The curfew has been imposed in an attempt to curtail the rapid surge of COVID-19 cases in the district. (Page News Service)
