
Kohima, May 5: In view of the rapid surge in COVID-19 cases in the State capital and in lieu of the Government declaring the State capital as containment zone, the Kohima district administration has imposed night curfew within the 19 municipal wards and the colonies falling under New Capital complex from tonight.
DC Kohima Gregory Thejawelie Sote on Tuesday issued the curfew order to be implemented from 7 pm to 6 am from May 5 till further orders.
In Kohima, personnel of District Executive Force and IRB were deployed in strategic locations to check unwanted movement of people and vehicle as part of the night curfew from tonight.
Police stopped vehicles and seized vehicle keys of those moving around without any urgency, while they also cautioned defaulters from repeating it.
The night out areas like Raj Bhavan, Phoolbari, Head Post Office, Razhu Point, High School junction, Middle Chandmari etc wore deserted look following the enforcement of curfew.
The administration is also imposing odd-even movement of vehicles from tonight till further notice.
Also, from Thursday only shops dealing in essential services and medics will be open from 6 am to 2 pm while functioning of Government offices have also been cut down to limited staff.
