3 Govt officials to be produced again in court today
Kohima, March 27: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) today issued fresh date summoning former Chief Minister TR Zeliang along with his Personal Secretary K Francis Zeliang on March 31.
This is the third summon issued to Zeliang.
It may be recalled that NIA first summoned Zeliang for interrogation into alleged funding of banned outfits through the government departments on March 13.
A notice issued to Zeliang then by DSP NIA, Union Ministry of Home Affairs, Yogesh Rathore said “it appears that you are acquainted with the facts and circumstances of the case being investigated by NIA DSP Jasveer Singh”.
But Zeliang wrote back to NIA saying he would be unable to comply considering the crucial budget session which was to start on March 13.
Accepting Zeliang’s request, NIA had re-fixed the date to March 17, but due to the Assembly session in progress Zeliang did not go.
In a fresh notice issued today to the ex-Chief Minister T R Zeliang by Deputy SP and Chief Investigating Officer, Jasveer Singh asked him to appear on March 31 at 10 am before the NIA HQ, Lodhi Road, Opposite Jawaharla Nehru Stadium Metro Station, New Delhi.
Zeliang has been asked to appear, without fail, along with documents relevant to the payments received from the government department for the purpose of answering certain questions relating to investigation of the case.
A separate notice was also issued to PS to Ex-CM, K Francis Zeliang to appear before the NIA HQ for the purpose on the same date.
Meanwhile, Jasveer informed that the three government officials, who were arrested on March 25 were produced before the NIA Court in Dimapur and taken into two day police remand for interrogation.
They would be produced again before the court on Wednesday for to for judicial custody, he said.
The NIA has been investigating extortion cases in Nagaland since August 2016.
