NH-29 LOU meeting held


Dimapur, April 9: The NH-29 Landowners Union (Purana Bazaar to Chumukedima) has expressed unhappiness at not being compensated for their land and properties in the ongoing expansion of highway from Purana Bazaar to Chumukedima.
In an emergency meeting, the union said it is not against the expansion of NH-29 but is appalled at the Government’s indifferent attitude towards the land owner’s sacrifice. It said the National Highways Authority of India had directed the revenue officer, Dimapur to prepare a detail project report on NH-29 for land acquisition from Dimapur to Kohima but Purana Bazaar to Chumukedima was excluded by the State Government.
The union stated that it shall not compromise with the Government and will take up the matter to any extent whether before or after the completion of the project until its demand for compensation is fulfilled.
In the meeting, the union also selected its office bearers with chairman – Vishepu Assumi, secretary – Vichosel Rhutso, joint secretary – Kuvezu Thira, information secretary – Kewetso Kenye and treasurer – Dr Khashito Aye, along with 27 executive members.
The union further informed land owners along NH-29 whose land has been affected by the ongoing expansion to contact the chairman (8974565003), secretary (8575854357) or information secretary (8740831817).
