NFHRCC’s indefinite agitation kept in abeyance

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 12: The NFHRCC and Dimapur based Civil Society Organizations, while appreciating Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton for allotting necessary fund for construction of the pliable foothill road despite acute financial constraints, have decided to keep in abeyance the proposed indefinite agitation scheduled to commence from September 13.

In a joint meeting held today, the house said the decision of the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister exhibits their strong leadership and also manifests that they are fully cognizant of the pulse of the people.
It also appreciated all elected MLAs and the concerned Department of PWD (R&B) for their commitment in making the Naga historic project a reality.
“To respond to the gesture of the Government constructively and in view of which the proposed indefinite agitation scheduled to commence from September 13th 2021 will keep in abeyance in the greater interest of the people till an agreement is arrived at between the NFHRCC and concerned Department with regard to execution of the pliable road”, a press release issued by NFHRCC convenor, Supu Jamir, general secretary, W Lemba Chang and assistant general secretary, Chenithung Humtsoe stated.
However, it said the newly constituted “Young Nagas Action Committee for Foothills Road” shall be kept alive for any eventualities.
The NFHRCC said under any circumstances the construction of the pliable foothills road has to be started on the onset of this working season 2021.
The house also expressed appreciation to Ao Senso Telongjem Dimapur, Chang Union Dimapur, Lotha Hoho Dimapur, Konyak Union Dimapur, Khiamiungam Union, Dimapur Phom Union Dimapur, Sangtam Union Dimapur, Apex Lotha Hoho Wokha, the Western Sumi Hoho, Western Yimkhium Hoho, Nagaland Zeliang Peoples’ Organization, CNTC, ENPO, CNSA, DENSU, ZLSU, DAYO, LYOD & WSYF for their unflinching support to the initiatives of the NFHRCC in all their endeavors on the Foothills Road issues.

Further, the house also appreciated the role of the Fourth Estate in covering all events judiciously in their print media, social media and TV Channels.
The House further urged the Government of India to declare the Trans Nagaland Expressway (Mega Project) from Khelma to Tizit at the earliest. In this regard the house unequivocally endorsed the Committee to apprise the Ministry (MoRTH) and to approach the PMO at the earliest to expedite the relentless efforts made by the State Government.
