Dimapur, February 5: The Nagaland Foothills Road Co-ordination Committee (NFHRCC) has appealed to the Government of Nagaland to maintain at least jeep-able road along the foothills road (Trans Nagaland Expressway) to ease the pain and agony faced by Naga public especially during bandhs and agitations imposed by neighbouring states.
In a statement, the NFHRCC also urged the concerned authority to clear-up the stretch where earth cutting had been executed during 2013-14 under Mon, Mokokchung, Dimapur and Wokha/Baghty Divisions respectively. It mentioned that the Doyang Bridge at Governor’s camp, Liphanyan-Koro is in progress and expected to be completed within this working season.
While awaiting the mega project (Trans Nagaland Expressway), it will be appropriate and wise to maintain at least a Jeep-able road to ease away pain and agony faced by Naga public, it said adding once the bridge construction is completed, the foothills road will survive as the earth cutting is done in almost all the stretch except in some portion.
The NFHRCC appreciated the relentless initiative undertaken by the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and CE PWD (R&B) respectively expressing their desires to expedite the completion of the remaining uncut portions at the earliest.
The NFHRCC further urged all the 60 elected legislatures to adopt a resolution in the ensuing Assembly session to further expedite the mega project and ventilate it to the PMO for early declaration of the project officially. (Page News Service)
