Dimapur, December 2: The Nagaland Foothills Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) had a year ending meeting at its based office today and resolved to routinely visit and inspect the ongoing construction works at the Doyang Bridge side.
As per the latest information received by the committee the construction works had already been resumed. The committee requested the contractor and the site workers to co-operate with the team as and when they are visiting the construction spot.
A press release issued by Convenor, NFHRCC, Supu Jamir, general secretary, W Lemba Chang and assistant general secretary, W Chenithung Humtsoe stated that some NPGs were attempting to levy tax to the contractor, for which the Committee made it clear that no NPGs would be allowed or permitted to levy any tax as per the understanding arrived between the NFHRCC and the NPGs.
The committee appealed to all the NPGs irrespective of their positions, ranks and status to reaffirm the understanding that had arrived earlier between them at the time of the commencement of the historic project in 2013.
The NFHRCC was clear that any form of taxation levy by any group would be treated as against the integrity of the Nagas.
The NFHRCC, while appreciating the present Government of the day for their utmost concern for the Naga historic project, appealed to the Government to issue the work orders in regards to the remaining uncut portions as assured by Minister of Road and Bridges, Tongpang Ozukum and Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio.
