Dimapur, September 21: The NFHRCC, in its meeting held on September 19 last, acknowledged the Government of Nagaland for funding the much needed the historic Foothill Road initiatives at the tune of Rs. 6,700 lakhs under SPA during 2013-14 and 2014-15 including a construction of 2 lane 134.80 m span RCC bridge over Doyang River at Governor’s Camp, Liphanyan. Due to various reasons including the discontinuation of SPA, the contractor had temporarily suspended the work in 2017-18, the work was resumed in October 2018 and the work is in progress with the completion of 68.72 % of works up till now.
The meeting appreciated the Government of Nagaland under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister, Niephiu Rio and the Dy.CM Y Patton for their effort in rechristening the Foothill Road into a Mega Trans Nagaland Expressway which the DPR was approved by the MORTH and the final declaration is awaited from the Prime Minister Office.
It also acknowledged the CE, PWD(R&B) Er.Limanaro for her prompt response as appealed in furnishing the detailed proposals to the State Government to make the erstwhile Foothill road motorable before the mega project starts as desired by the Naga public in general.
The meeting resolved to meet the CM and Dy.CM soon after they return from New Delhi at the earliest for consultation on the issue of the motorable Foothill road.
The NFHRCC also requested the respective Village Council authorities and various local area Organisations in the vicinity of the Foothill roads to cooperate and assist the NFHRCC members as they will be visiting the entire stretched in sector wise within this coming week.
