Kohima, April 28: The newly constructed building of Kohima Ao Baptist Church was formally dedicated by Reverend M. Asangba Longkumer today.
Marking the occasion a dedicatory service on the theme “To God be the Glory” was held with Executive Secretary of Ao Baptist Church Association, ABAM, Reverend Dr. Mar Atsongchanger as the main speaker.
In his message, Reverend Mar called upon the congregation to follow the four principles of dedication, which include being humble, prayerful, seeking God and turning away from wicked ways.
Extending greetings on the occasion, President of Kohima Baptist Pastors Fellowship, Dr Kevichalie Metha said Nagas always look up to the Ao community as spiritual parents for it was the Aos who first embraced Christianity and welcomed the Missionaries.
He said that through their willingness to receive the missionaries, the gospel spread to different parts of Nagaland and beyond.
“We are proud and thankful to the Kohima Ao Baptist Church for your various ministries. Apart from expanding the kingdom of God, many social services for the people of Kohima had been initiated by you,” he said.
“May this milestone foster your relationship with God more than ever,” Dr Metha conveyed.
Presenting the construction report, Church Complex Construction Committee convenor L. Temsü Longkumer said the project started in 2011 and was completed at a cost of Rs 26 crore. The main hall of the Church has a sitting capacity of 2500 people including the balcony.
Chaired by KABA Pastor Rev. I Bendangmeren the service commenced with responsive reading and prayer led by Deacon Dr I Bendangla Longkumer. Deacon P Talitemjen Jamir delivered the welcome address while offertory was pronounced by Rev. I Yapang Walling and benediction by Rev T Chuba Jamir.
Special presentations by Christian Education Ministry, praise and worship by Praise Fountain and special number by the Church choir marked the dedicatory service.
