New Market polling stations lead in Clean Election


Kohima, February 27: Two polling stations under 8th Western Angami Assembly Constituency – New Market 1 and New Market 111 polling stations led in “Clean Election” campaign with “one man , one vote” .
New Market I PS reordered 640 votes out of 768 and New Market 111 PS recorded 288 votes out of 356 voters.
New Market Area Panchayat (NMAP) and New Market Youth Organization (NMYO) maintained strict vigil through the polling period on Tuesday and not allowing any proxy vote to be cast in the two stations.
NMAP Chairman, Kuotsu Kehie expressed satisfaction over the polling conducted in the New Market polling stations. ” As per the Election Commission of India (ECI) Representation of Peoples Act 1951, every franchise has right to vote who attains the age of 18 year” he informed , adding “in democracy he or she has right to caste for own choice”.
He also said that whichever candidate win the election from the seat , the elected legislator should work for the development of the assembly seat and revealed that two most important priorities of the New Market colony is the road development and the construction of New Market Area Panchayat hall.
The New Market area is the one of the oldest colony in the state capital and need immediate attention of road development, as most of the vehicles passes – be it private, government and commercial vehicles traverse the colony road daily.
