New DUDA Directorate building inaugurated at Kohima

Dimapur, March 1: New DUDA Directorate Office building was inaugurated on 1st March, 2019 at Kohima, near NPSC Office.
Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, in his inaugural speech, congratulated and express his appreciation to the Department, contractor, the consultant and all those involved for successfully completing the project. He informed that the building was completed at a total cost of Rs. 10.96 crore.
He highlighted that the Department was created in June 2003 to strengthen and improve the infrastructure development of Eastern Nagaland and to capacitate the people through the life skill programmes and livelihood solutions. Also with an objective to promote growth of the ENPO districts with special focus on infrastructure, development, healthcare facilities, improvement in education, human resource development and building capacity in institutions.
He stated that over the years the DUDA Department has made tangible progress through its programmes such as Under Developed Areas Programmes (UDAP) and Border Area Development Programme (BADP). He said that the Department is in the process of building up its own cadre of personnel and at present the Department is manned by a total of 76 personnel- 44 from DUDA cadre and 32 from the Engineering Wing and Treasuries.
He further highlighted that since the inception of the Department, a number of programmes have been implemented like- Under Developed Areas Programme (UDAP); Border Area Development Programme (BADP) ; Empowerment of underprivileged Youth of Eastern Nagaland in collaboration with NIELIT and under this programme, 1280 youths of Eastern Nagaland have been computer trained; Coaching classes for HSLC Students, by initiating special tutorial programme in Maths and Science teachers ; Development of Anghya Brand & Anghya Marketing Network, a retail network Initiative of the Department for providing livelihood solution to farmer’s, entrepreneurs and unemployed youth of Eastern Nagaland; Minimum Support Price for Minor Forest Produce (MSP for MFP) under Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Limited (TRIFED), Ministry of Tribal Affairs, GoI.
Rio expressed that the new Directorate building will be the epicenter of various programme and policies for the people of ENPO as well as a collective voice to convey the needs and aspirations of the four Districts of ENPO. He appealed the officers and staff of the Department to ensure proper maintenance of this building and also to set up work culture that is best in the State.
MLA & Advisor DUDA, N. Bongkhao Konyak, thanked the chief minister for extending support by providing fund for the completion of the new DUDA Directorate office building.
He said that the Chief Minister’s vision and his concern for the people of ENPO area propels him to always walk extra mile for our people. Under his leadership, DADU was created in 2003 to strengthen the infrastructure development and to improve the quality of life in Eastern Nagaland.
He also thanked the ENLU for always standing up for the Department with good advice and encouragement. DUDA will be able to achieve new milestones only with the support of the ENLU and the people of ENPO Area who are the stakeholders. He urged the leaders to continue their support for DUDA with an innovative ideas and guidance so that the backward areas of the state grows as par with the rest of the District’s in the state.
Welcome address and programme was chaired by Principal Secretary DUDA, Lhoubeilatuo Kire. Dedicatory prayer was delivered by Pastor, KBBK, Moba Konyak. Earlier Inaugural plaque was unveiled by the honoured Guest.
