New claim suggests Michael Jackson’s chimp tried to suicide

Claims have come to light that Michael Jackson’s pet chimp, Bubbles, once tried to kill himself but was rushed to hospital in time and saved.
The allegations were published by The Times of India who state that 2003 ended on a bad note for Jackson after he was formally charged with child-molestation and ‘his favorite pet, a chimpanzee named Bubbles tried to commit suicide.’
The alleged attempt was unsuccessful and Bubbles, who is now 35, lives at the Center for Great Apes in Wauchula, Florida.
Bubbles was adopted by Jackson from an animal trainer in the 1980s. He was initially kept in the Jackson’s home in Los Angeles but moved to Neverland where he slept in a crib and ate candy in the ranch’s movie theater.
As he got bigger, Bubbles was reported to have become aggressive and Jackson sent him to a California animal trainer in 2003 over concerns Jackson’s children were no longer safe around him.
Bubbles’ suicide attempt is alleged to have taken place in December 2003. There are no other details as to how he’d tried to kill himself.
Bubbles, now weighs 168 pounds and lives at the Center for Great Apes in Wauchula, Florida, where he’s resided since 2005.
Earlier this month NME reported allegations by top primatologist, Dame Jame Goodall, 84, who said she believed Bubbles was punched in the face and kicked in the stomach.
‘..when he was with Michael he was being beaten,’ Goodall said stopping short of claiming Jackson was himself responsible for any abuse, although she added she ‘ticked’ Jackson off about Bubbles.
Jack Gordon, the ex-husband of La Toya Jackson, claims he personally witnessed the star attacking the chimp.
It is also alleged that Bubbles self-harmed when he heard of Jackson’s death in 2009.
Patti Ragan, the founder of the Center For Great Apes, where Bubbles lives, has dismissed reports that he tried to self-harm when he heard of Jackson’s death and says he hasn’t been told that the singer died but wouldn’t have understood any way.
