NERMPI, CIHSR organizes workshop on Blood Banking

Dimapur, April 3: The North East Regional Multi-Disciplinary Paramedical Institute (NERMPI), Christian Institute of Health Sciences & Research (CIHSR), organised a two-day workshop on Blood Banking on April 2 and 3.
A press release informed that the workshop aimed at optimising existing resources, enhancing the capacity of healthcare professionals, and improving blood transfusion services in Nagaland, given the limited number of licensed blood centres relative to its population.
The workshop catered to the specific needs of medical officers and medical laboratory technologists, the key stakeholders in blood banking and transfusion services. With an array of objectives, the workshop aimed at capacity building, quality improvement, and resource optimisation in the field of blood banking.
Distinguished professionals in the field of transfusion medicine and blood banking served as resource persons for the workshop: Dr. Joy Mammen (HOD, Dept. of Transfusion Medicine, CMC Vellore); Dr. T Temsu Ao (Consultant, Dimapur District Hospital); Dr. Avila Sangtam (Jr. Specialist, Blood Centre, Naga Hospital Authority Kohima); and Dr. Mejungsangla Longkumer (Blood Centre Officer, CIHSR)
