Dimapur, February 8: Northeast Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR) concluded its 10 days rural camp at Thenyizu village, Phek district which was held from January 27 to February 6. Rural camp is an integral component of Masters in Social Work (MSW) curriculum.
A total of 49 students from second semester and two faculty members along with Phek district peace channel coordinator participated in the rural camp.
During the camp, Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) and activities such as household survey and awareness programme on family planning, women’s health and hygiene, awareness on peace building, cleanliness drive, and cultural exchange programme were conducted in the village. The camp focused on facilitating villagers in the social and resource mapping of the village.
The social work trainees of NEISSR conducted home visitations and PRA at Thenyizu village with resource person RK John (Asst. Programme Manager DAN Dimapur) as the trainer. The trainees were skilled in PRA and successfully completed the social mapping of the village, social resource mapping, seasonal calendar, etc.
