DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 28: The North East Indigenous Peoples’ Forum (NEIPF) will hold its annual general body meeting and a general conference on ‘inter-border issue’ in January 2022 at Dimapur.
A press release informed that this was decided during an executive meeting of NEIPF held on November 27.
The NEIPF will organise a general conference the following day at Dimapur, to discuss the inter-border issue of the region. The Forum will invite stakeholders, public leaders, CSOs, community leaders, scholars, intellectuals, etc., to take part in the conference, it informed.
“The NEIPF will initiate and create a conducive atmosphere by forming a common platform to allow free and peaceful meeting of the indigenous people of the region to minimise conflict of interest and human tragedies. A delegation of the NEIPF will visit the State of Mizoram to stock of the impact and make an assessment following the political crisis in the neighbouring country, particularly Myanmar”, it stated.
The Forum also decided to preserve and protect the “traditional knowledge as defined by UNESCO Convention, 2003”.
“Documentation of traditional knowledge, including manuscripts, art forms, rituals and games, etc., will be initiated by the NEIPF with the guidance and support of indigenous people of the region”, it stated.
