
DIMAPUR, MARCH 22: Sixty-year-old weaver from Kohima, Neihunuo Sorhie, received Padma Shri award in the field of Art from President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi.
She was among 47 Padma Shri awardees for the year 2023.
A PIB release informed that an Investiture Ceremony was held at the Rashtrapati Bhawan and the President presented three Padma
Vibhushan, four Padma Bhushan and 47 Padma Shri Awards for the year 2023.
Among the dignitaries present on the occasion were the Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, and Union Minister for Home Affairs and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah.
After the Investiture Ceremony, Shah and other Union Ministers interacted with the Padma Awardees at a dinner hosted by the Union Minister of Home Affairs at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, New Delhi.
The Padma Awardees will pay homage at the National War Memorial on the morning of March 23. They will also visit the Amrit Udyan and Rashtrapati Bhawanas well as will visit Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya.
