Kohima, November 28: Minister planning & coordination, land revenue and parliamentary affairs, Neiba Kronu inaugurated the much needed Zapami Village Hostel under Pfutsero sub-division of Phek district.
The Hostel was constructed under Article 275 (1) during 2019-20.
Speaking as a special guest of the occasion, Kronu acknowledged Zapami villagers for being hardworking and sincere people and also appreciated them for quality execution of the project though the fund provided.
He informed the villagers that good road connectivity in the area will be achieved soon where villagers will get lots of economic opportunities if they plan now and start different activities for economic uplift.
He also encouraged the villagers to look forward in life with a positive attitude and not waste time on trivial differences.
Kronu, also encouraged the villagers to provide land when developmental government projects come in the area as the ultimate benefit goes to the user community.
Lauding the village for initiating community hostel for the village students, he said that it will go a long way to empower the future generations. He said that human resource development is the most important area where all should give its best.
Kronu, also asserted to work hard to ease the burden of farmers by improving agri link roads connectivity in the village.
President 16 Pfutsero Assembly Constituency NDPP, Dingulo Khutso who also hails from the village thanked Kronu for his support and concern for the Zapami village. He also said that constituency people are very fortunate to have leaders like Kronu who are working very hard and determined to develop the area.
Kelhikha Kenye who supervised the hostel construction said that Kronu has fulfilled the long aspirations of the village to have a residential school in the village. He recalled how the church, village council and Village Education Committee along with the parents of students initiated community hostel in 2017 to bring quality education in the village.
He also said that the village is planning to introduce vocational learning in the hostel in the years to come to revive the traditional institution of learning through the morung system.
The programme was chaired by VDB Secretary Kedoutsolhi Wetsah while Pastor ZBC Chikhro Khutso invoked God’s blessing. Vote of thanks was proposed by Neingulo Khutso GB and Zechepe Kreo Associate pastor said the closing prayer.
