NDPP youth conducts cleanliness drive in Kohima town

Kohima, November 26: The Central Youth Organisation of Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) today conducted a social work cum cleanliness drive in Kohima town on the theme “Cleanliness our responsibility”.
Launching the drive, Advisor for Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Dr Neikiesalie Kire at Old MLA Hostel junction said that initiating cleanliness drive is appreciable but the shopkeepers and street vendors should also make it a habit to clean their surroundings.
Stressing on better awareness among the general population on cleanliness and hygiene, he said the street vendors should leave behind the garbage after the day’s business but should clean the area and dispose of it properly.
Dr Kire also informed that the NDPP 9th Kohima Town A/C would also be conducting similar drives during the Hornbill Festival so that Kohima town becomes a cleaner and healthier place for all.
NDPP Central Youth Organisation president Imchatoba Imchen informed that altogether 400 volunteers, including Central Office Bearers and Central Women Organisation participated in the drive.
He said that during the drive, they have put up six banners at strategic locations to create awareness on cleanliness and also installed eight dustbins at different locations for the use of the public.
He said that the NDPP volunteers also moved around creating public awareness through the PA system.
NDPP CYO working president Lhouvi Punyü chaired the launching programme while vice president Mhao Kikon offered prayers. (Page News Service)
