Nagaland News

Dimapur, November 29: The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) 7 Peren Assembly Constituency held a consultative meeting on November 29 at the residence of UDA Chairman TR Zeliang.
A press release informed that the meeting was attended by all the NDPP executives of 7 Peren A/C and its frontal units and also the CEB, COB representing 7 Peren A/C and all executives of the erstwhile NPF who merged with NDPP.
They resolved to work in coordination with all the erstwhile NPF members to strengthen the party and the position of the incumbent MLA in the Constituency; and to work tirelessly to strengthen the hands of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and NDPP President Chingwang Konyak.
Addressing the gathering, Zeliang said that the fate of State General Election 2023 would depend on the outcome of the Naga political talks.
He also said that the top brass of NDPP and BJP have come together and taken the decision for 40:20 seat sharing formula and asked the party workers not to be carried away by rumours and speculations that this is not the final decision.
He also said that the NDPP and BJP will continue the coalition as agreed upon and each party will try its best to win the number of seats allotted to them. He exuded confidence that the NDPP and BJP coalition will come back to power.
On the various murmurs regarding the NDPP ticket issue, he said that it is the legitimate right of every party worker to seek for party ticket to contest the election. However, the Parliamentary Board will take a final call on the ticket issue and that it will depend on the “winnability of the candidate”.
Therefore, he called upon the gathering not to speculate and discuss on the issue and that ‘you will know who will get the ticket when the ticket is distributed next year in case solution do not come forth before announcement of election.”
