Dimapur, September 1: The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) has against sought to justify the appointment of senior leaders and member of PDA partner parties to various Government positions saying they were appointed following all norms to carry out good governance and connect with the grassroots.
In a press release, the NDPP claimed that all the persons appointed are acknowledged leaders, having respectable credentials with experience and expertise in various fields apart from political seniority.
“These persons include former elected members, ex-ministers, accomplished members from the bureaucracy and the fourth estate, persons with civil society experience, etc. Each person comes with decades of experience with vast knowledge and we are hopeful that they will contribute towards better governance and improve the delivery system,” it said.
Stating that the PDA Government is committed to the people and the various appointees are not going to cost the State’s exchequer with any additional burden, the NDPP said the State Government is continuously making efforts to reduce Government expenditure, curb excess spending of public funds and enforce austerity measures.
The NDPP also reminded the NPF that during its regime in the past four years, they had appointed several of its functionaries to various Government positions who enjoyed position and status but with minimal output and no contribution whatsoever.
In the release, the NDPP also took exception to the use of words like “nonsensical” and “chamchas” by the NPF, saying a responsible party or person should not even have the word “chamchas” in the vocabulary.
“In today’s environment, such terms are derogatory, discriminatory and uncivilised.
If the NPF is at all serious about its image, it needs to apologise to the people of Nagaland for setting the wrong example and taking our polity to the lowest levels possible.”
Stating that it will never stoop so low nor undermine the wisdom of the people, the NDPP said it will conduct itself with responsibility, respect for others and will always uphold the feelings of the people. (Page News Service)
