Dimapur, September 3: The NDPP has congratulated Abu Metha, secretary general, NDPP on being selected by the Government of the United States to participate in a special exchange program on the subject “Regional Project for Asia Pacific, South & Central Asia” under the aegis of the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). The programme and all its participants are fully funded by the US Government.
The specially designed programme will be attended by leaders belonging to 12 Asia Pacific countries and the programme will give opportunities to the participants to examine the functions of state and local governments in planning, discuss US regulatory processes and the government’s role in ensuring a working infrastructure across state and local levels. The programme will also discuss matters related to activities in the region and the Indo-Pacific strategy with the US Department of State Bureau of East Asia and Pacific Affairs, and South and Central Asian Affairs.
A panel discussion will also be arranged for visitors to meet with representatives of the CSIS Reconnecting Asia project office to address the topic of “Insights into the U.S. Perspective of the Indo-Pacific Region.” The CSIS headquartered in Washington, DC conducts research and analysis and develop policy initiatives that look at future predictions and anticipate change.
While congratulating Abu Metha and being the only person selected from the region, the NDPP wished him all success and hoped that Nagaland and its citizens will benefit in multidimensional manner now and in the long term.
