Dimapur, August 9: The Chief Medical Officer, Kohima under the aegis of National Health Mission (NHM) conducted National De-Worming Day (NDD) programme at Government High School PWD on August 8.
In the launching of NDD, SPO (RCH) Dr Atoshe Sema said that children suffer from several harmful health issues because of worm infection such as Anemia, nutritional impairment, loss of appetite, weakness & anxiety, stomach ache, nausea, vomiting & diarrhea and blood in stool. He said that on National De-worming Day, de-worming tablets will be given free-of-cost at schools & anganwadi centres targeting children of 1-19 years of age, as children should be dewormed, even though some children do not fall sick. Benefits of de-worming children were also cited by SPO.
