Dimapur, April 18: The Nagaland Contractors and Suppliers Union Dimapur District (NCSUDD) has extended solidarity to the people of Nagaland in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, and appealed to all right thinking citizens to cooperate with the authorities and follow the guidelines of lockdown diligently.
“It has been observed that the disease has been escalated mainly due to negligence which we believe is more than what the results manifest. The much publicized “Fully Prepared” slogan of the Government also did not go down too well in practical. The still ongoing renovation of the Dimapur COVID-19 hospital and inadequate personal protection equipments for health workers are not a good sign of its readiness. The concerned agency is urged to complete the task before it is too late. Failing which the responsibility should be fixed for their failure,” it said in a release.
The union also stressed on the need for transparency in supply & distribution of essential commodities, saying timely supply of items to the destination by the suppliers and fair & timely distribution by the FPS to the citizens is vital in the present situation.
Stating that it shall stand as watchdog so that any discrepancy does not arise from both ends, the union reminded the concerned department to judiciously make use of the free essentials distributed to the citizens as per commitment by the Central Government.
The union also expressed\ concern on the livelihood of daily wage labourers and pity business enterprises which entirely depends on daily earning, and suggested that the Government earmark some fund for procurement of essential commodities for them apart from the normal sanction by the department.
The NCSUDD expressed deepest appreciation to all the service provider to combat the pandemic which includes the Governor for taking personal initiative for setting up BSL lab in the State, frontline health workers, police personnel, administration, philanthropic organizations, fourth estate, volunteers, Churches, other essential services etc for their sacrificial gesture.
