NCD condemns March 15 AR raid

Dimapur, March 20: The Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) has expressed concern over the recent raid in the residence of its former president Savi Liegise on March 15 at dawn by the 32 Assam Rifles, during which his family especially minor daughters and women were harassed, frisked and “rude behaviour” by some female personnel.
In a release, the NCD urged the security forces to desist from carrying out deplorable acts under flimsy and motivated informers, which is destructive both to the victims and the army’s own reputation.
The NCD said Savi as one of the most dedicated social workers in the council was among the longest serving presidents from 2005 till 2013, and has rendered sterling service to the Naga people particularly the citizens of Dimapur in assisting the local administration in maintenance of law and order and communal harmony.
“To the best of our knowledge, Mr Savi Liegise possesses an honest, unquestionable character with compassion to build a good society and is neither involved nor associated with any anti social elements/factions whatsoever,” it stated.
