NCD bans lightning bandhs  in Dimapur

Dimapur, June 12: The Naga Council Dimapur has notified that no organization, hohos/unions, associations, etc in Dimapur will be allowed to arbitrarily impose any lightning bands or strike.
This was resolved in a executive meeting of NCD on June 10 in reaffirmation of the 19 tribes public meeting resolution dated 11/09/2012 and 10/05/2016.
“Such arbitrary imposition of lightning bandhs/strikes have inflicted immense suffering to general public on several occasions through riot, violence, arson, etc thereby disturbing public peace and resulting in loss of lives/properties and creating communal/tribal disharmony and enmity,” said a NCD press release.
The NCD warned that any organizations/hohos/ unions/ associations, etc imposing such arbitrary and illegal bandhs/strikes shall be considered non-cooperative, anti-social and harmful to the peaceful co-existence of Naga society and shall not be considered for any partnership with peace loving civil society and the district administration should take strong legal action without fear or favour.
The council said any organizations/hohos/ unions/ associations, etc intending to organize democratic form of protests for any legitimate grievances shall do so with due permission from district administration and consult/inform Naga Council /DCCI/ DNSU at least 3 days in advance for further public awareness to avoid public hardship.
The NCD notified all shops, business establishments, schools, colleges/institutes, departments, etc not to cooperate with sudden bandhs/strikes but to report the matter to the district administration and inform Naga Council /DCCI/ DNSU for proper coordination with authorities in order to keep Dimapur peaceful and free from arbitrary and unlawful bandhs/strikes etc. (Page News Service)
