NCC camp culminates at Kohima

Dimapur, May 13: The 10-days Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC) conducted by 1 Naga Girls Bn NCC under the aegis NCC Gp HQ Kohima from May 4 culminated today with impressive final guard of honour, drill parade, show of mixed martial arts, section battle drill and short range firing.
In his closing address, Gp Cdr NCC Brig SS Dhankhar appreciated the tough training, high standard achieved and transformation in personality that the cadets have undergone. He expressed gratitude to Dr Kangzangding Thou, Principal Sazolie College and entire college management for sparing the college facilities for the camp.
The aim of the camp was to impart basic and special training in military subject as per NCC syllabus, further develop character, leadership, comradeship, discipline and ideals of selfless service among the youth, to create a human resource of trained, organized & motivated youth to provide leadership in all walks of life and always be available for service of the nation to identify talent & guide them to take up service in the uniform forces of the State & nation.
The main activities conducted in the camp where map reading, field craft/ battle craft, fire control orders, firing, tent pitching, disaster management workshop, lecture by Dir Rtg ARO, Rangapahar, lecture and practical – health & hygiene & various sports and professional competitions. For the first time in many years boys and girls cadets underwent training together.
Martial arts training, trekking, guest lecture by lady police officer, lecture on medical standards required in uniform forces, social interaction, career guidance and interview by camp Comdt, SSB guidance & group discussion and visit to Church on both Sundays – were the activities carried out for the first time ever in a CATC.
