NBCC urges Baptist associations to comply with COVID-19 lockdown

Dimapur, March 31: The Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) has Baptist associations under NBCC to comply with the fresh directive issued by the State Home Department to ‘curb religious congregations during the lockdown period’.
In a letter to the executive secretaries/director of Baptist associations under it, NBCC general secretary Rev. Dr. Zelhou Keyho said, “I am calling upon each of you to direct all your churches, in no uncertain terms, to avoid mass gathering in the Church building until the lockdown is over. Moreover, along with prayers and pastoral care let us take the responsibility to convey the urgency of the situation and the need to act in a more practical way with respect to our church life.”
The NBCC admitted that such directive from the Government affects the church pastorally and in public worship. “However, the effects of the outbreak of Covid-19 affects everyone in our society and as followers of Christ we need to be exemplary in our social responsibility,” Keyho said.
