NBCC calls member Churches to pray for persecuted Christians in India on Feb 19

Appeals to voters: “listen to your inner voice; vote boldly as Christians”

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 15: The powerful Baptist Church organization in Nagaland, the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC), has called on its member Churches to pray for persecuted Christians in India on February 19 (Sunday). It also called upon its members to pray for the State General Election 2023.
“Pray for Christians suffering all over India because of their faith”, appealed NBCC General Secretary Rev. Dr. Zelhou Keyho in a media release issued today. (Full Text)
Citing reports that India is the 10th Most Dangerous Country to live in for Christians, the NBCC, while not naming any political parties or organizations, alleged that communal forces in India are becoming very forceful.
“Minority religious groups are suffering every day. Christians and other minority groups are told lies everyday in the name of development”, it stated, while also alleging that “there is a plan in the making to eliminate our right to vote and call India a Hindu nation”.
“The face of India is changing by the day, the communal forces are emboldened because of the silence of the people in power. We must pray for India. We must be the voice for the voiceless. We need to stand for the minorities who are oppressed and are made to suffer every day”, it said.
On General Election 2023, the NBCC called upon the people to elect God-fearing leaders, leaders who will honourably lead Nagaland for the next five years. It also urged the people to be aware of “forces out there demeaning our faith and trying to impose their religion on us in the name of politics”.
“One person one vote, no proxy voting and no buying and selling of vote. Vote wisely, fearfully and yes, boldly as a Christian this coming election. Do not listen to the voices which are coming from outside, listen to your inner voice”, it appealed.
The NBCC suggested organizing prayer walk in the neighbourhood and strategic place/location to pray this coming Sunday (Feb. 19) or gather together in a designated place from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. to pray.
