Dimapur, April 22: With extension of lockdown across the country by Government of India and notified by Government of Nagaland in Nagaland as well, the Northern Angami Youth Organisation (NAYO) has urged the Government of Nagaland to reach the remote villages with essentials commodities for the basic needs of the people.
The NAYO expressed concerns about the rush during the opening of groceries because even after repeated appeals from administration it has come to notice that the public is still not maintaining a social distancing norm which is pre-requisite at the moment.
Stating that the public has failed miserably in the norm, the NAYO requested its citizens to strictly adhere and comply with this call and also requested its Police force to use stern methods on enforcing this.
The organization also requested the concerned authority to allow hardware, stores, garage to be opened once or twice a week to meet the public demands and groceries to be opened on all working days, rather than on alternate days to maintain social distancing effectively.
The groceries and other necessary supplies for villagers those are to be opened twice or on regular basis are scheduled to remain open from 6 a.m. to 12 noon in order to control and ensure social distancing in a proper way, it said.
The organization demanded the village councils for exemption towards the farmers and cultivators’ from the purview of lock-down.
The organization also discouraged youth from engaging as a volunteer in their colonies as it is against the law.
NAYO further directed its units Villages Youth Organisation to maintain and safeguard their respective villages under NAYO’s jurisdiction.
NAYO while lauding the administration and the police for working tirelessly and selflessly during this trying time, also requested the police to use alternative punishment for the defaulters and not to resort to any physical abuses.
NAYO also requested its citizens to be disciplined and cooperate with the police and administration by staying indoors and stay safe.
It further requested everyone to follow the symptoms of COVID 19 closely i.e. cough , high fever respiratory problem if find should report to concerned body immediately followed by Isolation and Self Quarantine for safety of each one and there family.
