Nature-Fitness Walk 2021 organized

Dimapur, August 28: A walkathon, titled ‘Nature-Fitness Walk 2021’, was organised in Dimapur on Saturday, as part of the Fit India Movement.

The non-competitive event was organised by Dorians Society, Dimapur, in partnership with Impact Ministry and Dimapur District Basketball Association. It covered an approximate distance of 18 km.
According to the organisers, 46 participants-including children-from Kohima and Dimapur completed the walk from the Clock Tower junction to the hockey ground at Nagaland Police Complex, Chümoukedima.
An 11-year old, Jongari Jamir from Kohima, was the youngest participant to complete the walk, while the oldest was a 50 year-old from Dimapur.
Wapong Longkumer, a pioneering member of Dorians Society, said that the event was an attempt to encourage people to remain healthy and fit by including physical activities and sports in their daily lives.
He also informed that Dorians Society will be commemorating its 25th founding anniversary in 2022 and is planning to conduct a host of events in the lead up to the anniversary celebration.
It was further informed that the event was held keeping in mind COVID-appropriate protocol and with due permission from the district administration and Nagaland Police Complex authority.
