National Girl Child Day observed in Mon

Dimapur, January 29: Mon District administration in collaboration with DLCW-MSK & Sakhi-OSC observed a week-long National Girl Child Day from the January 21 to 26. The celebration witnessed activities and competitions across the District.


On January 21, grandmother granddaughter selfie competition was held. Girl clubs with 10 members from 8 schools were also formed and provided with hats and badges at Aboi.
On January 22, online slogan competition on the topic ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ was organized. Traditional weaving and design training was also held at Aboi.
Ballika Manch on POSCO Act, menstrual hygiene, good touch bad touch and women centric programmes was organised at Phomching HQ on January 23. Stationery kits were distributed to adolescent girls.
On January 24, tree plantation drive in the name of the girl child initiated by the District administration in collaboration with DLCW-MSK Sakhi- One Stop Centre and youth of Santham Ward Mon Town was undertakn. The saplings were provided by DFO Mon.
BBBP Mon Block Task Force in collaboration with DLCW- MSK and Sakhi- OSC identified and felicitated special children as local champions on January 25.
On January 26, women frontline workers were felicitated by Minister, PWD Mechanical & Housing Tongpang Ozukum at the Republic Day celebration, Mon town. BBBP Girls Club sang the National Anthem at Aboi on the occasion of 72nd Republic Day. Free medical camp for mother and girl child was also conducted at Anjangyan HQ where over 100 beneficiaries availed the benefits.
