Dimapur, August 15: Along with the rest of the country, Nasha Mukt Bharat Campaign for the state of Nagaland was launched by Atoli Sema, Director, Social Welfare on August 15.
In her address, the Director mentioned that campaign would be carried out extensively in three identified districts of Nagaland, Kohima, Dimapur and Mon by conducting awareness generation programmes in the schools and colleges for students, teachers and parents; forming student clubs in the colleges to discuss and spread awareness; referring/taking victims or users to rehabilitation centres/hospitals for counselling or treatment; monitoring of counselling and treatment facilities in the district; ensuring strict implementation of ban on sale of tobacco within 100 metres of any educational institutions; conducting training programmes for the service providers at district level and sub divisional level; encouraging community participation and public cooperation; and identifying volunteers in the community and training them to work as community peer for spreading awareness in the community.
She also requested line departments, service providers, civil societies and faith based organizations for cooperation to carry out the campaign successfully.
The campaign would be carried out till March 31, 2021 and sponsored by Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.
