Street Fighter, a Nagamese film produced and directed by Ajay Kumar under the banner of Pooja Films Production was released on Sunday at Tourist Lodge, Dimapur, with former NPCC President K. Therie as the Chief Guest of the programme.
During his speech, Therie praised Kumar and others who stay committed to filmmaking despite the lack of support from the government and the general public. He underscored the potential of the film industry as a job creator for all age groups and its ability to boost the state’s economy. Therie also urged the government to take proactive measures and allocate a budget for the film industry.
Therie expressed joy at the recent representation of two Naga artists at the latest Cannes Film Festival. He questioned whether such international recognition might prompt the government to take notice and act. While admitting he could have done more for the industry during his term, he nevertheless implored those currently in power to back the industry and foster employment opportunities.
To those aspiring for a career in the film industry, Therie suggested patience and persistence. He advised them to have an alternative plan should their aspirations not materialize.
Earlier, Ajay Kumar briefly shared that Pooja Films Production was founded in 1995. He expressed his disappointment over the state government’s neglect of the industry, saying that despite many politicians expressing verbal support for the film sector, there has been little actual change.
“Street Fighter” features Rakesh Lal, Mughavi Yeptho, Hugali Swu, and Arti Singh in the primary roles. (Page News Service)
