Nagaland to deploy sufficient SF in border area: DGP

DIMAPUR, JULY 15: The Government of Nagaland plans to realign sufficient security force in the Assam-Nagaland border area bordering Mokokchung District at the earliest possible time to maintain status quo and to avoid further encroachment from both the sides.

This assurance was given by DGP Nagaland, TJ Longkumer, while addressing a joint meeting with Tzurangkong Senso Mungdang (TSM) and Tzurangkong Naga Youth Front (TNYF) on Thursday. The meeting was held with an intention to find an amicable solution to the current tension along the border between Nagaland and Assam.
In the meeting, Commissioner of Nagaland, Rovilatou Mor also assured that a Chief Minister level meeting of Nagaland and Assam is scheduled very soon. He called for calmness among the public to avoid confrontation between the two States.
A press release issued by TSM and TNYF said in the meeting both the public organizations of Tzurangkong area addressed the grievances vis-à-vis border issues to the senior officers present in the meeting. After due deliberation, the public organizations demanded the State Government to settle the present the border issue at the earliest possible time and ensure that the security set-up be beefed up to stop all future incursions into Naga ancestral land.
The public organizations also assured to give all assistance to the administration in order to maintain tranquility among the populace of the two States.

The meeting was also attended by IGP (NPTO) Imlisunep, DIG (Border) Vidalalie Zashumo, DIG (R) North Sendongmeren, SP, Mokokchung, ADC, Mangkolemba and Border Magistrate, Merangmen.
