Dimapur, February 4: National SC-ST Hub (NSSH), a Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprise, GoI is organizing a ‘NSSH State Conclave’ on February 5 at Agri Expo Hall, 4th Mile Dimapur to bring together CPSEs, Industry Associations and State Government on a common platform and deliberate upon steps to be taken to fulfill Public Procurement Policy mandate for SC-ST entrepreneurs.
Talking to the media fraternity about it here at Hotel Saramati, Dr Avinash Choudhary, North East Zonal Manager of National Small Industries Corporation Ltd (NSIC) said that it is an initiative to empower the entrepreneurs belonging to schedule castes and schedule tribes.
It was informed that the programme aims at coalescing efforts taken by all the stakeholders towards creating a supportive ecosystem for inclusive growth of SC-ST entrepreneurs.
NSIC, a Mini-Ratna CPSEs under the Ministry of MSME is the implementing agency for the scheme of NSSH which is organically linked to the Public Procurement Policy 2012 which states that 25% of the total procurement of goods and services by the Central ministries, departments and CPSEs shall be made from MSEs and 25% of such procurement (4% of total) shall be made from SC & ST owned MSEs.
Lithrongla G. Chishi, Commissioner and Secretary, Industries and Commerce, GoN, who also addressed the media, said that such event is a vision to reach out to the targeted people. She also mentioned that a request has also been made to the Deputy Commissioner to nominate entrepreneurs under the PMEGP as per their observation.
National working president, forum of SC and ST Legislatures Parliamentarians, Director General, Dr Ambedkar Chamber of Commerce, Inder Iqbal Sing Atwal pointed out the event is an important initiative by the Government of India which is being supported by the state government and it is a vision of Prime Minister of India to empower SC/ ST entrepreneurs economically.
He mentioned that the event is not a political vision of any political party but a service by the GOI and Government of Nagaland to promote and encourage the local tribal communities and SC/ST in India. He also said that Chief Minister of Nagaland and Governor are also serious in promoting the scheme in Nagaland and is optimistic that it will be carried out in a transparent manner to promote the entrepreneurs.
