Nagaland reading festival to continue till Nov 15

Kohima, November 3: The Department of School Education Nagaland has started Nagaland Reading Festival under Micro Improvement Plan for Government schools having elementary section in collaboration with ShikshaLokam, Bangalore through DIKSHA portal.
The primary objective of the reading festival is to inculcate reading habit among the students, improve reading skills and to improve learning outcomes in schools.
The programme, which commenced on October 15, will continue till November 15.
Dr. Bijano Murry, Joint Mission, Director Samagra Shiksha Nagaland and State Nodal Officer informed that till date 182 schools have registered in the DIKSHA portal and 54 schools have uploaded the report in the portal.
Murry said that due to technical issues in the DIKSHA portal, many school heads reported difficulty in registering the activity in the portal.
However, the issue in the DIKSHA portal has been resolved and reminded all the government schools to initiate the activity on the DIKSHA portal.
She also informed that the step by step video guide to register in the DIKSHA portal has been provided to schools through the Nagaland Reading Festival District Committees.
Dr. Murry, said that the state team shall explore options to extend the date of the Reading Festival beyond November 15 in view of the time lost due to technical issues in the DIKSHA portal.
This programme was earlier launched by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio during the state level teachers day celebration on September 5, 2022 in Kohima.
The District Committees shall constitute a jury and recommend the best three schools from each district for state level felicitation, according to Kelhikha Kenye, Deputy Mission Director & State Media Coordinator, Nagaland Reading Festival.
