Nagaland police to have SWAT team: DGP

Dimapur, February 23: Nagaland Director General of Police (DGP), T. John Longkumer on Saturday disclosed that Nagaland is going to have its own special task force like the SWAT which will be equipped with the best weapons and mobility. For this, a special package will be sought from the Government of Nagaland.
The State DGP announced this while addressing the ceremonial attestation parade of the 55th batch NAP/IR & HG & CD cadet havildars and recruit constables here at NAP Training Centre Parade Ground, Chumukedima, Dimapur.
He mentioned that the announcement of ‘15% extra allowance of basic pay to Nagaland police and instructors’ by the Chief Minister recently is a well deserved one for the force and this will come into effect from April 1, 2019.
To the passing out trainees, he said that the initial days of their careers are going to be very crucial and detrimental for the latter years and they should not be worrying about where they are posted but go wherever and complete the tasks they are given to serve the nation. He said that it is a blessing to protect the people and it should be done with joy.
He expressed that Nagaland Police is on the move and it ought to be among the best police forces in the country, which can only be achieved through collective effort. He also asked them to be credible among the eyes of the people and the villages.
A total of 376 trainees passed out this time of which 247 belong to NAP, 127 to NAP (IR) and 2 to Home Guard and CD. (Page News Service)
