Kohima, May 27: The New Market (Ser) Area Panchayat, Kohima, Ward No. 8, has decided to impose a total lockdown starting from May 27 till May 31, after an emergency meeting on May 26.
NWAP, through an order issued on May 27, informed that the decision came about after taking into account the different views and suggestions put forth by the members in order to contain and prevent the spread of COVID-19.
In this connection, all vendors dealing in vegetable, fish and meat, bakeries, and local grocery stores/shops within the colony have been ordered to remain closed.
Also, all activities, non/essential movement of the public would be monitored, except healthcare facilities, hospitals, etc. and other emergencies as the case may be.
The order further stated that any person(s) acting in violation of the order would be penalised and invite stern action from the panchayat.
