Dimapur, August 2: For the third day in a row, Nagaland detected over 100 cases of new COVID-19 with 104 new cases on Sunday. On Saturday, 138 new cases were reported in the State while on Friday, new cases detected were 127.
With Sunday’s new cases, the total positive cases in the State are close to the 2000 mark at 1935. But with 648 recoveries and 4 deaths, the number of active cases is 1279.
As per the severity of symptoms, 1,277 active cases are asymptomatic, 1 active case is mild and 1 active case is with oxygen. The positive persons are receiving medical care at the designated COVID-19 hospitals and COVID-19 care centres. Active surveillance and contact tracing is also in progress to prevent further spreading of the infection.
Out of the 104 new cases, 62 are in Dimapur (34 Armed Force jawans; 13 returnees; 4 frontline workers & 11 traced contacts); 18 in Zunheboto (17 Armed Force jawans; 1 returnee); 17 in Kohima (17 Armed Force jawans); Wokha – 5 (5 returnees); Phek – 1 (Armed Force jawan) and Mon – 1 (frontline worker).
A total of 2,352 persons are presently under facility quarantine in Nagaland. (Page News Service)
