Nagaland COVID-19 tally jumps to 3778

Kohima, August 26: Nagaland on Wednesday detcted another 26 fresh COVID-19 cases increasing State’s tally of confirmed cases at 3778, however there was no update of patients overcoming the virus.
“26 fresh positive cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the State out of 627 samples tested – 20 in Kohima, 4 in Dimapur and 2 in Mokokchung,” tweeted Minister for Health and Family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom.
Nagaland had 11 consecutive days of more recoveries than detection of positive cases but there was no update of any recovery for the day.
It recorded the highest single day recoveries of 215 patients the previous day and on August 20.
On August 4, Nagaland had the highest single day infection of the virus as 276 tested positive since the detection of the first three cases from among Chennai returnees on May 25.
With this, the State has 1149 active cases, 2611 recovered, and nine each deaths and migration to other states out of the 3778 total confirmed cases detected so far.
The recovery rate of the State is 69.11 per cent as against 69.58 per cent on Tuesday.
Sources informed that there are recoveries for the day, but it could not be updated due to the 24 hour agitation called by Nagaland In-Service Doctors Association protesting the assault by police personnel on doctors in three occasions.
On being contacted, health official replied saying, “Regret to inform that update of August 26 will be reflected tomorrow. Though, in spite of the circumstances, all necessary measures for those detected positive are in place”.
In this, the state Health department also did not update the daily bulletin, which contains the cumulative COVID-19 status for the day till the time of filing this report.
The district wise confirmed cases are Dimapur 1,866, Kohima has 1,127, Mon 273, Peren 268, Zunheboto 110, Tuensang 52, Phek 31, Wokha 23, Mokokchung 22, Longleng 5 and Kiphire 1.
Among the active cases, Dimapur district has 16 symptomatic patients while rests are asymptomatic.
The district wise active cases are: Dimapur 582, Kohima 439, Mon 77, Zunheboto 29, Tuensang 7, Wokha 6, Mokokchung 4, Peren 3, and one each Longleng and Kiphire districts. Among the active patients, 16 in Dimapur district are symptomatic while others 1,107 are asymptomatic patients.
The district wise recovered persons are Dimapur 1,272, Kohima 685, Peren 265, Mon 194, Zunheboto 81, Tuensang 45, Phek 31, Mokokchung 18, Wokha 17 and 3 in Longleng district. (Page News Service)
