Dimapur, August 5: Nagaland on Wednesday reported 93 new cases of COVID-19, the total cases in the State have jumped to 2498. One positive case today was a re-test positive.
Data release by State Health & Family Welfare today also showed the number of COVID-19 deaths in the State at 6. Out of the 6 death, one death was COVID-19 positive but the cause of death was not due to COVID-19.
Out of the 93 new cases detected today (1 case is retest positive), 88 were detected from Dimapur and 5 at Kohima. But as has been the trend in the last more than a week, out of the 93 new cases, 59 are from the Armed Forces, 14 are returnees, traced contact – 19 and others – 1.
Of the 88 new cases in Dimapur, 28 are from Armed Forces, returnees – 11, trace contacts – 18 and others – 1. Out of the 5 new cases in Kohima, 1 is from Armed Forces, 3 are returnees and traced contacts – 1.
With 685 recoveries and 6 deaths, the number of active cases in the State is 1804. As per the severity of symptoms, all active cases are asymptomatic. The positive persons are receiving medical care at the designated COVID-19 hospitals and COVID-19 care centres. Active surveillance and contact tracing is also in progress to prevent further spreading of the infection.
