Nagaland COVID-19 tally breaches 12,000-mark


KOHIMA, JANUARY 13: The COVID-19 caseload in Nagaland crossed the 12,000-mark on Wednesday with 6 fresh detections.

Even as 7 COVID-19 patients recuperated, the detection of 6 fresh cases has pushed the state’s tally to 12,003, said Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom.
Today’s detection include three in Dimapur district and one each in Kohima, Mokokchung and Mon districts, he said.
The 7 patients to have recovered today include six from Kohima district and one from Mokokchung district, the minister added.
Of the total cases, 11,674 have recovered, while 103 are active patients, said Phom.
Altogether 86 people have succumbed to the virus, out of which 76 are due to contagion and 10 had co-morbidities, said Director of Health and Family Welfare, Dr Denis Hangsing in the daily COVID-19 bulletin.
Another 140 patients have migrated to other states, he said.
Dimapur has the highest infection at 6,446 followed by Kohima 3,731, Mon (605), Peren (504), Tuensang (244), Mokokchung (185), Zunheboto (142), Phek (47), Kiphire (41), Wokha (39) and Longleng (19).
Out of the confirmed cases, 4,925 are traced contacts, 4,659 armed forces personnel, 1,847 returnees from other States and 572 frontline workers, he said.
The district-wise active cases are as: Dimapur (66), Kohima (25), Mokokchung (7), Peren (2), Mon (2) and Longleng (1).
Among the active cases, 13 patients are with mild and moderate symptoms, two severe cases are on oxygen and two on ventilators, he informed. Altogether 86 persons are asymptomatic, he said.
So far, the district-wise distribution of recovered patients are: Dimapur (6,249), Kohima (3,649), Mon (592), Peren (499), Tuensang (243), Mokokchung (169), Zunheboto (139), Phek (50), Kiphire (40), Wokha (35) and Longleng (9).
A total of 1,22,366 suspected COVID-19 samples have been tested in Nagaland so far, including 72,729 on RT-PCR, 36,891 on TrueNat and 12,746 on Rapid Antigen Test, Hangsing informed. (Page News Service)
