Dimapur, June 22: Nagaland reported the highest single day spike in the number of COVID-19 cases with the detection of 69 cases on Monday morning. With this, the number of confirmed cases in the State has jumped to 280. However, with 141 recoveries reported so far, the number of active cases in the State is 139.
The 69 new cases were detected from 275 samples tested. All the positive persons are receiving medical care at the designated COVID-19 hospitals.
As per the severity of symptoms, all the 139 active cases are asymptomatic.
A total of 9,665 samples have been sent for testing till date. Results of 8,158 samples have been received and 1507 samples are awaited. Out of the 9,665 samples, 6833 samples have been received at the BSL-3 lab at the Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK), till today and a total of 5613 samples have been tested and out of which 221 samples have tested positive.
A total of 6768 persons are presently under facility quarantine in the State, informed an official bulletin.
HPC reviews COVID-19 situation in State
Meanwhile, the High Powered Committee on COVID-19 held its meeting under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister. The meeting was attended by the co-chairman, Deputy Chief Minister, Minister for Agriculture and Cooperation, Minister for Higher & Technical Education and Tribal Affairs, Members of the High Powered Committee – Minister for Planning & Coordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs and Advisor for Information Technology, Science & Technology and Non Renewable Energy.
The High Powered Committee reviewed the overall COVID-19 situation in the State and it received briefings from the Health Department and the Home Department.
