Suggests measures to state Govt
Dimapur, May 7: President of Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), K Therie today termed the state Chief Minister’s lockdown exit plan as vague and without any direction.
Therie stated that Nagaland Chief Minister in his exit plan ignored economic distress.
Stating that for Congress, politics and economy are equally important in governing, the NPCC president said since lockdown has brought development activities to a grinding halt and has created huge unemployment, the state Government should plan to facilitate workers to continue in works instead of sending them away, if they wish to stay.
The Congress also expected the government to address various issues after lockdown, considering the economic impacts on each citizen and family.
It said education should be provided free as every family cannot afford online education. It suggested that the state should have its own satellite channel or think of online learning facilities for meeting the emerging necessity. It also suggested the Government to increase grant in aid to private schools and reduce admission and tuition fees.
It said Health Services and Health Insurance Schemes should reach every citizen and that the Government provide stimulus to restructure economy by resolving the political problem and multi-taxation; facilitate loans for local entrepreneurs from Banks and other financial institution; declare all areas under Town and Municipal Councils as cadastral areas; allocate land for industries in the industrial zone; plan to create 2 lakh jobs; facilitate agricultural growth and arrange marketing channels; train local workforce to replace migrant workforce; stimulate agriculture and farming; reduce taxes, rent and utility bills and government must find ways to compensate hospitality sector.
Alleging that the BJP has destroyed the booming economy of the nation that was created by Congress led UPA, the NPCC said today the economy of the nation is at its lowest ebb and with the lockdown, the impact of the Pandemic will only worsen the economic situation.
It said the NDPP + BJP State Government’s sycophancy cannot even get its own share of taxes released not to speak of additional or special plan and non-plan assistance being given to the state either.
“We cannot expect BJP Government to rescue the state’s huge deficit economy. We must plan for a self content economy,” Therie stated. (Page News Service)
