Kohima/Dimapur, January 2: Kevilhouü Rio, mother of chief minister Neiphiu Rio and MLA & Advisor, Zhaleo Rio passed away at Oking Hospital, Kohima on January 1 after a prolonged illness. She was 92. Her husband Late Guolhoulie Rio pre-deceased her about 30 years ago.
Her funeral service was held at G. Rio School in Kohima today while the last rites were performed at Rio’s Family Cemetery in Botsa, at the outskirts of the State capital.
Meanwhile political parties and organizations have expressed grief at the passing away of Kevilhouü Rio and extended condolences to the bereaved family.
NPF: The Naga People’s Front (NPF) has expressed grief at the demise of Kevilhouü Rio, mother of chief minister Neiphiu Rio on January 1, 2020.
“Losing a mother is irreplaceable and is most tragic and excruciatingly painful, and we empathize with your emotional distress at this hour of grief,” said NPF president Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu in a condolence message to chief minister Rio.
“Late Mrs. Kevilhouü was a God fearing, hard working and upright woman as it is a fact that she had raised such an illustrious sons and daughters-speaks volume of the character that your mother possessed. Her life was one we should all emulate, and her demise is a misfortune for all of us and the legacy left behind by her exemplary life will always be remembered in the days to come,” he said.
The NPF conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.
NPCC: The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has expressed shock and grief at the demise of Kevilhouü Rio, mother of chief minister Neiphiu Rio.
“Though your family has many reasons to celebrate her life, we know no words can comfort the loss of your late mother,” said NPCC president K Therie in a condolence message to chief minister Neiphiu Rio.
The NPCC conveyed deepest condolences to the bereaved family and prayed that the grace of the Almighty God be with the family and comfort and console them all.
NDPP: The rank and file of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party has expressed shock and grief at the demise of Kevilhouü-ü Rio, mother of chief minister Neiphiu Rio and MLA & Advisor, Zhaleo Rio at Oking Hospital, Kohima on January 1 after a prolonged illness.
“Every person understands the love of a mother and to lose someone so cherished and dear is an anguish that words cannot describe,” said NDPP president Chingwang Konya in a condolence message.
The NDPP offered heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for her soul to rest in eternal peace.
NMA: The Naga Mothers’ Association (NMA) has expressed pain at the passing away of Kevilhouü Rio, saying she was a motherly figure to the association since its inception and was a strong supporter in the mothers’ endeavour for fighting social issues and for peace.
“She was a devout prayerful woman and would encourage the mothers’ to be strong and to be the best people they could be. She has lived a beautiful and fulfilling life. A good soul has passed on, and a beautiful soul has gone to heaven,” it said in a condolence message.
The NMA expressed deepest sympathy to the bereaved family and prayed that she rest in eternal peace with the Lord.
CMO/CMS: The officers and staff of the Chief Minister’s Office and Chief Minister’s Secretariat have expressed pain and grief at the demise of Kevilhouü Rio, mother of Neiphiu Rio, Chief Minister of Nagaland, who passed away on January 1, 2020 at Kohima.
“Late Kevilhouü Rio was a woman of substance and a pillar of strength to all her descendants throughout her life. Even though her husband Late Guolhoulie Rio and father of Hon’ble Chief Minister pre-deceased her about 30 years ago, she remained steadfast and committed to the well-being of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a humble, loving, caring and God-fearing mother who raised her children well to become eminent personalities in the State and the country such as well-known businessmen, doctors, educationists, senior bureaucrat who went on to become a prominent politician representing one of the biggest constituencies in the State, and most notably, four-time Chief Minister Shri Neiphiu Rio,” it said in a condolence message.
Expressing condolences to the bereaved family, the CMO/CMS prayed for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.
NDPP SG: NDPP secretary general Abu Metha has expressed pain at the demise of Kevilhounyü-ü Rio, saying she an extraordinary woman who exemplified an ideal mother and wife with the virtues of strong character and kind heartedness.
“She will be remembered for all times to come and her contributions will always be cherished,” he said while praying to Almighty God to let the departed soul rest in peace and to provide solace to her near and dear ones.
KTCN: The Kachari Tribal Council Nagaland has offered deepest condolences to the family members of Late Mrs. Kevilhou Rio, who breathed her last on January 1, 2020.
“She was a mother just not to our beloved Chief Minister, Mr. Neiphiu Rio, and MLA, and advisor Zalie Rio but she was a mother to all she ever came across,” it said in a condolence message.
NDPP 5 Ghaspani: The NDPP 5 Ghaspani-II A/C has expressed grief at the demise of Kevilhouü Rio, and conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
