Kohima, January 26: Nagaland today joined the nation in celebrating 71st Republic Day by displaying the unity in diversity through culture and traditional performances.
Unlike the previous years, this time the main function held at Civil Secretariat Plaza in the state capital was bereft of the address highlighting developmental and other aspects of the state, which normally is delivered by the Governor on the occasion.
Nonetheless, the Governor unfurled the National Tri-color, inspected the parade and took salute from the 20 marching contingents.
The Governor also handed over Union Home Minister’s Medal for excellence in police training to four personnel – two each female and male.
He also gave Governor’s Gold Medal tp 4 individuals and 2 NGOs and Governor’s commendation certificate to nine individuals.
Accompanied by his wife Laxmi Ravi along with Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, Chief Secretary Temjen Toy, DGP T John Longkumer, the Governor also inaugurated the exhibition stalls set up by various government departments. (Page News Service)
