Nagaland beat Meghalaya to win CK Nayudu Trophy plate final

Dimapur, February 19: Nagaland defeated Meghalaya in the plate group final of Col. CK Nayudu Trophy to end its season on a triumphant note.
A press release on Monday informed that the hosts inflicted a 7-wicket defeat on Meghalaya at Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Sovima. Resuming the day trailing by 58 runs, Nagaland failed to capitalise as they lost their remaining 9 wickets for the addition of only 59 runs.
It gave the hosts a lead of one run. But Meghalaya batters failed miserably in the second innings and were bowled out for 54. Neizekho took six wickets for Nagaland in the second innings, taking his match tally to 9.
Chasing a target of 53 runs, Nagaland managed to secure the win with seven wickets intact.
“With this win, Nagaland lifted the Col. CK Nayudu Trophy for the Plate Group. It could be said that, Nagaland Cricket is going in the right direction as in all the Men’s category this season, Nagaland had made it to the Semis out of which they went on to win in two Categories, Cooch Behar (U-19) and Col. CK Nayudu (U-23) beating Meghalaya in both the matches. The Under 16 and Senior Men’s (Vijay Merchant and Ranji Trophy) lost in the Semis against Meghalaya and a very strong side Hyderabad respectively”, stated the NCA press release.
